I was thrilled to be brought into the project for the new season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as Holly Campbell Studio, to design and create the miniature outfits for the Housewives, transforming them into stop-motion dolls for an exciting new streaming campaign.
To promote the latest season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, NBC Universal and its streaming platform Hayu collaborated with D8 Studio on a groundbreaking campaign. Without access to the show's iconic cast, they needed a fresh approach—one that would still embody the glitz, drama, and larger-than-life personalities fans adore.
Their solution? A stunning stop-motion world, complete with a miniature Hayu House nestled under the sparkling "Hayu-wood" hills. Every doll was styled with meticulous detail, ensuring their outfits reflected the bold personalities of the cast. My role was to design and construct the tiny, intricate outfits that captured each Housewife’s signature style, bringing a sense of authenticity and glamour to the dolls. Every stitch, fabric choice, and embellishment was carefully considered to reflect the show’s over-the-top fashion.
The campaign seamlessly blended humour and nostalgia, delighting both long-time fans and new viewers with Easter eggs and references to unforgettable moments from the series. The stop-motion animation brought the drama to life in a unique way, proving that handmade craftsmanship and traditional animation techniques still have the power to captivate audiences in a digital age.
With a tight 30-day turnaround, the project was a whirlwind of creativity, problem-solving, and precision. The result? A visually stunning and immersive campaign that spanned nine international markets, reaching audiences across TV, social media, and even out-of-home activations, such as tram wraps and subway station takeovers.
Collaborating on this project was a dream come true. Seeing my miniature outfits come to life on these dolls in such a dynamic campaign was an unforgettable experience, showcasing the magic of fashion, storytelling, and stop-motion animation.
